Decent product - a little challenging to handle

First-ever application of vinyl on a car. Selected 3M 1080 based on reviewing products and on-line info. The learning curve was moderate. Biggest problems were keeping wrinkles and bubbles out. The vinyl sticks to itself easily and can adhere to the car on contact making it problematic in attempting to remove wrinkles / bubbles while avoiding stretching the material. Finally figured out how to heat the vinyl correctly with the heat gun (a MUST have)so it could be formed to the car sections. The 3M paint-on adhesive and the soft squeegees were a big help on the corners. Overall, application took a good 4 days in the garage. Car turned out very nice (matte black). Durability is supposed to be ~ 3 years, but hopefully this can be extended with a car cover - not really worried about the original paint if it causes damage. Though the 3M 1080 is supposed to only be applied to moderate curves, some careful working provided coverage on complex shapes and some tight corners (used the paint-on adhesive at corners). Careful heating, use of cotton gloves to shape the vinyl to the surface (along with squeegees) and knowing the limits before a 'punch through' in a material. Next application will be easier after this learning effort.

Enjoyed a weekend project with my 15 year old son wrapping a 2000 Jeep cherokee. It turned out great and would not hesitate to take on a more challenging job now.
